CSXT HDF Fuel Surcharge Will Change January 1, 2013

Dear CSX Transportation Customer:

The CSX Transportation HDF fuel surcharge will change January 1, 2013.

CSXT HDF/Mileage Based Fuel Surcharge
The highway diesel fuel/mileage based fuel surcharge is published in CSXT Fuel Surcharge Publication 8661 and applies to all regulated linehaul freight rates existing or established by CSXT on or after April 23, 2007. It also applies to all linehaul freight rates and charges with respect to exempt, contract, private or other pricing documents that reference CSXT Publication 8661 on or after April 23, 2007.

The CSXT HDF/mileage based fuel surcharge of 53 cents per mile, which became effective December 1, 2012, will change to 51 cents per mile for shipments having a bill of lading dated on or after January 1, 2013.

The 51 cents per mile fuel surcharge is based on the "HDF Average Price" of 400.0 cents per gallon for the calendar month of November 2012. The "HDF Average Price" is on U.S. No. 2 Diesel Retail Sales by All Sellers, as determined and published by the U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Information Administration at www.eia.doe.gov.

2012/2013 CSXT HDF/mileage based fuel surcharge rates:

  • 50 cents per mile effective January 1, 2012
  • 47 cents per mile effective February 1, 2012
  • 46 cents per mile effective March 1, 2012
  • 49 cents per mile effective April 1, 2012
  • 54 cents per mile effective May 1, 2012
  • 53 cents per mile effective June 1, 2012
  • 50 cents per mile effective July 1, 2012
  • 44 cents per mile effective August 1, 2012
  • 44 cents per mile effective September 1, 2012
  • 50 cents per mile effective October 1, 2012
  • 54 cents per mile effective November 1, 2012
  • 53 cents per mile effective December 1, 2012
  • 51 cents per mile effective January 1, 2013


CSXT WTI Fuel Surcharge

The CSXT WTI fuel surcharge will change effective January 1, 2013.

Customers with confidential pricing utilizing the CSXT WTI fuel surcharge in Tariffs CSXT 8100/8200  must be registered ShipCSX users to access the WTI fuel surcharge status information.
