Express Lane
Express Lane is our expedited rail service for transporting produce and other food products between the West Coast and certain points on the East Coast. It's fast, efficient and designed to get your products to market quickly using the cost effectiveness of rail.
Fresh, Fast and Headed Your Way
Express Lane was designed by CSX and Union Pacific to expedite perishable foods from California and the Pacific Northwest to the East Coast. Express Lane has now moved over 6 million tons of product and continues to offer shippers an expedited alternative to the high cost of other methods of moving freight.

Equipment
Express Lane uses boxcars owned by Union Pacific. Much of this equipment features:

- Satellite Tracking
- +/- 2-Degree Set Point Variance
- Fresh Air Exchange
- Remote Sensoring
- Remote Diagnostic Testing and Pretripping

Union Pacific Distribution Services (UPDS) personnel monitor Express Lane shipments each day of transit. UPDS personnel will also proactively coordinate the following services:
