CSX’s Purchasing & Materials group handles the acquisition, delivery and management of items and services necessary for railroad operations across our system.

Areas handled by Purchasing & Materials

• Engineering Purchasing: Supports work equipment, train control, ballast, ties, rail, Engineering services, construction material and vehicles. 
• Technology and Services: Supports technology hardware and software, travel, procurement-card operations, administrative supplies, outside services and consultants, and intermodal operations.
• Supplier Quality and Development: Supports supplier development, quality reviews and audits, warranty management, RailMarketplace, and long term strategic initiatives.
• Mechanical Purchasing: Supports locomotive and car operations.
• Supply Chain Process Improvement: Supports ongoing system applications and file maintenance, EDI and web transaction support, customer dispute resolution, and process improvement.
