Investment Recovery: sales and/or disposition of surplus, obsolete and scrap assets and materials. All sales, like-kind exchanges and swaps are handled by the Manager - Investment Recovery.
To become a bidder for Investment Recovery Auctions:
Complete the Scrap Credit Application
and submit to Expenditure Recovery as shown at the top of the application.

Q. Can I purchase scrap ties for landscaping?
A. CSX generally does not sell scrap materials directly to the general public. We have contracts with several companies who handle our scrap removal services. If you wish to purchase scrap ties, contact Tampa Crosstie at 800-776-2028.
Q. Do you have any cabooses for sale?
A. CSX uses cabooses only in limited circumstances. However, unused cabooses are being converted into shoving platforms and are not for sale.
Q. Does CSX donate material or equipment?
A. The following is an excerpt from the President's Statement of Department's Mission and Responsibilities: "Donations of any building, property, equipment, materials, or other tangible items are not to be considered for any reason. Until this policy is revised, surplus assets of any kind will be sold by the Manager-Investment Recovery."
