The CSX Internship/Co-op program offers challenging assignments and real-world experiences that develop self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment while earning college credit towards graduation. Opportunities are available throughout the CSX network.

Earn While You Learn
Earn $15 - $18 per hour while you build experience and expertise in your area of academic concentration.


Opportunities may be available in the following departments:

CSX Commercial Department interns will focus on business development. The Sales department is the customers' main point of contact at CSX. They direct customers to the appropriate Operations CSX employees for operational issues, and work with Marketing to develop transportation rates, contracts, etc. Students must be knowledgeable of all customers moving those products and develop business in the most profitable manner for CSX. All internship opportunities will be located in Jacksonville, Fla.

CSX Technology Department internships will require motivated students with a strong desire to become key participants in a high-visibility, results-oriented team environment. Responsibilities will cover full applications project lifecycle including initial project definition, requirement specification, design development, application development and testing, implementation planning, implementation support and maintenance. Students will be part of individual and collaborative development and delivery of technical and business-oriented presentations in both one-on-one and team settings. All internship opportunities will be located in Jacksonville, Fla.

CSX Finance Department interns will gather, collect and analyze information for analytical review. This will require working with the data warehouse and other reporting environments and conferring with subject matter experts to determine appropriate action plans for completing analysis of assigned projects. Students will learn how to interact with upper level management, how to work in a team and focus on the customer's needs. Students will develop a strong comfort level with presenting information in front of a group, and will develop an understanding of the functions performed by the corporate finance function. All internship opportunities will be located in Jacksonville, Fla.

CSX Damage Prevention (Load Engineering) internships will give each student a well-rounded understanding of the department's daily operations. Students can expect to assist with major damage investigations, investigations of high value loss and participate in on-site freight inspections. Students will also analyze claim and inspection data, reconcile contractors' miscellaneous charge bills and assist team leaders in using this information to prepare presentations. All internship opportunities will be located in Jacksonville, Fla.

Candidates that are scheduled for an interview will be expected to provide a letter of recommendation (from a professor, advisor, or supervisor) and a statement of intent. The statement of intent should include the reason for pursuing an internship/co-op with CSX (one page maximum).
